New President. Same trading results.

Mark Sear • Jan 20, 2021

A difficult days trading but we end up 4-0 for $450 in the first hour.

We always know it would be a strange day today.  A new President and a raft of changes likely to occurred in the USA.  We've been in yet another strong uptrend for the past few days but it is still hard to be sure of what will happen at the start of the market.  And what we saw was indeed a really odd day.

We opened the markets with almost all of them on their highs - and of course at (once again) record highs.  It is a quite remarkable situation and something that bears hallmarks of 2000 on the NQ and perhaps 1929 on the YM.  The opening 5 minutes was supremely volatile on the NQ with close to a 50 point range in the first 5 minutes.  Finding a high probability and low risk was impossible as the stop required would have been close to $700 on every chart.

So what did we do?  Trade recklessly?  No.  Of course not.  We were just supremely patient and waited for the trades to come to us.  One (you will see in the video) is just a simple example of what we call an "impulse candle@ trade.   Just a very simple $80 in under a minute trade.  Followed a little later by a couple of very simple break trades (shown here below).  Total of the trades $80 , $140 , $90 and $165.  All smaller trades but this market was jumpy and hard to find perfect entries for.

At the end of the day $450 is good day for a day when all our probability lines are telling us to enter only super high probability trades, and keeping us out of risky trades.  And there we have it.  No BS.  Just 4 nice trades on a tough day.  There will be easier days for sure ... and then the good times will roll.
